Carey Day, of Lamar, turned 21 yesterday. He wasn't expected to live past 12. I don't know what exactly is wrong, but our families have known each other for years. We children grew up together, I took his older brother to prom and my younger brother took his younger sister to prom. Needless to say, it was a very special day.
I think I'm going to talk to his family about doing a photo essay with them. My mother would be thrilled I would have an excuse to actually go home occasionally.
